19th Century

In the 19th century, the area came under the control of the British colonial government. The British established a number of administrative centers in the area, including the town of Ajali, which became the headquarters of Orumba North LGA. After Independence

1886: The British establish a colonial administrative center in Ajali. 1960: Orumba North LGA becomes part of Anambra State after Nigeria gains independence. 1991: Orumba North and Orumba South LGAs are created from the former Orumba LGA. 2006: The population of Orumba North LGA is estimated to be 240,000 people. 2023: Engr. Ogochukwu Ekwueme is appointed chairman of the Transition Committee for Orumba North LGA.
